Workforce

The availability of a highly skilled workforce is the most important factor for businesses looking to expand or relocate. The Portland Metro Region is fortunate to have a growing, increasingly diverse, relatively younger, and highly educated population making the region attractive to employers. The region also has one of the nation's highest in-migration rates for young, single, college-educated residents, a key segment of the population that fosters economic growth in sectors in which education plays a key role. To maintain a high quality workforce, representatives from government, business, education, economic development, labor, and workforce development work together to establish the direction of the workforce system and ensure that the current and future labor needs of business are met.

We work in partnership with workforce training organizations, higher education (including both universities and community colleges) and public entities to develop a strong regional labor pool.
